All
prices quoted will be ex-Delhi, ie you have to buy your international tickets.
Dates are the date you must arrive in Delhi and the date you are free to fly out. Flights to India arrive late at night, early in the morning - plan carefully! You can of course arrive earlier or leave later.
Minimums Three trekkers is our normal minimum, unless mentioned. All treks normally run.
Previous trekkers and people who book two major trips in a row get a 5% discount, providing there are at least four bookings.
Caring for our staff We have great staff, and we really care about them, as they care for us.
Tipping our crew is optional, but allow approx 5% of the trip cost as a guideline. The western guides don't take tips.
Expedition-style trekking means sleeping in tents. A cook and helpers cater for us with 3 course meals and post-trek snacks, and porters/yaks/ponies carry the lot, organized by a sirdar. You trek with a daypack. Couples share a roomy tent, everyone else gets a single room tent.
In cities and towns airport transfers and hotel/guesthouses are included, meals are not included.
Exploratory treks The golden age of exploration dead? Never! These are a set of 'back of an envelope' treks that would warm Tilman's heart. There is nobody else on the planet who organizes treks quite like this. They are rough, demanding and wild; a positive, can-do attitude and smile required.
Friends treks for previous trekkers and their friends only.
Booking
When you are happy with the arrangements then book your international flights (we can recommend a travel agent for USA clients) and travel insurance. Then sign the 'Acknowledgement of Risk, Waiver and Release', fill in the 'Contract and Booking form' then pay a deposit - all from the top left links.
Payment for treks & expeditions
In short, for treks we need a non-refundable deposit of US$500 or equivalent per person. The balance can be paid prior to the start of the trek or on arrival in Kathmandu/Delhi; please discuss with us.
Checklist
Before you pay us, first you should have:
+ been in contact with us
+ booked your international flights
+ signed the Acknowledgement of Risk, Waiver and Release
+ filled in the Contract and Booking form
+ looked into travel insurance
+ know whether you are paying Jamie or Kim
OK, so you are ready...
What if I book then want to cancel?
For our trips we take a US$500 deposit covered by the fine print in the contract and booking form:
"If you cancel you lose the deposit amount. We will refund any other money paid."
The deposit for 8000m peaks is US$1500, and for Everest US$3000.
Insurance and liability
Times are uncertain; you must have travel insurance. It is a fundamental condition of booking that you accept that this is an adventure holiday where you may be exposed to risks different from every day life. We provide advice to the best of our abilities, take reasonable precautions within our skill levels and within the budget constraints of the trip. Ultimately, however, we accept NO liability.
We are happy to spend time sorting out which trek is best for you then answering questions important to you.
Preferably enquire and plan with us early so that you can book your international flights 3-6 months ahead so that you will get the booking you want.
